What My Day-to-Day Actually Looks Like

Not quite what you’d expect

If you picture someone working in insurance, you probably already have an image in your head.

Something like a quiet office, overly fluorescent lighting, maybe a cubicle, and a very serious conversation happening across a desk.

And while that version definitely exists somewhere… it's just not my version of it

What it actually looks like

My day-to-day is a little less “corporate office” and a little more real life.

It usually starts with getting my daughters ready, figuring out what the day looks like, and trying to get a solid block of focused work in before things inevitably get a bit more unpredictable.

In between client conversations, emails, and planning work, there’s also life happening around it - which, in my case, includes a mix of cats, dogs, and whatever foster we currently have at the time.

Coffee gets reheated more than once, things don’t always go exactly to plan, and there’s a constant balance between work and everything else going on in the background.

A very consistent part of my day

Every single day, without fail, my dogs find their way into the part of the yard they're, not supposed to be in.

At this point, it’s less of a surprise and more of a scheduled event, I go out, do the little walk, bring them back, and we carry on with the day.

They haven't quite figured it out yet… and honestly, I’m not sure they ever will.

The part I really love

We also foster, which is something that’s become a really meaningful part of our home.

It’s equal parts rewarding and a little chaotic at times, but every dog or cat (right now kittens) that comes through has their own personality, their own needs, and their own story. Getting to be even a small part of that is something I really treasure.

A bit of my background

Before all of this, I actually went to school to study the northern lights.

I’ve always been someone who likes understanding how things work, asking questions, and looking at things from a slightly different perspective.

I also spent years living in Calgary before recently moving to Carstairs, which has been a shift in the best way, new community, new rhythm, and a different pace of life.

The misconception

Have you ever seen that episode of The Office where Michael’s coworkers convince him that the guy coming in to talk about insurance is actually part of the mob — and suddenly what should’ve been a normal conversation turns into this whole dramatic, high-pressure situation in his head?

That’s kind of the energy some people walk into these conversations with, like they’re about to be pressured into something way bigger than they signed up for.

And I get it.

That's why I built this differently

That’s a big part of why I created this personal brand the way I did.

I wanted this to feel different.

Less like a formal, sit-down meeting, and more like a conversation you can come into with questions, curiosity, or even just a “I’ve been meaning to look into this” kind of mindset.

Because the reality is, most people aren’t looking for something complicated. They just want to understand what makes sense for their life, in a way that actually feels approachable.

Real life, not perfect plans or pressure.

For me, this work has always been connected to real life.

Not the perfectly planned version of it, but the everyday version.

The one that includes busy mornings, dogs that don’t listen, unexpected changes, and figuring things out as you go.

And that’s exactly why having things set up in a way that supports you matters, not because something will happen, but because life doesn’t always follow a perfect plan.
